Sharks and Mosquitos....

We are currently in the Bahamas for a much needed vacation. We are having a very nice time. The first few days we were the only guests at the resort. It was so crazy! The whole staff was here just to serve us. There is a part of me that felt guilty and I kept thinking so this must be what it feels like to be a billionaire and have staff all the time waiting on you hand and foot. As a pregnant lady it was pretty nice :)

The food has been amazing! Not only is the food great but in fancy places like this they make it look so pretty. It is like you want to take a picture at every meal of your food.

Everyday we have been snorkeling and every snorkel trip we have seen at least one 6 foot long shark! Yikes! And I don't mean from a distance in the boat I mean like I could touch it. On the first day I was staying very close to Jon but for some reason he was far away from me and I look down and about three feet under me was a giant shark. I didn't see him until he was under me cause I was looking down. I calming yell shark then put my face back in the water to watch what the shark was doing (I heard it is not good to swim from a shark if they are swiming at you) and start to swim towards the boat. The shark was headed right towards Jon and the guide.

A few moments later when the shark swims past the boys the guide says it is only a nurse shark but that is the first shark he has seen since working at the resort. Once I found out it was a nurse shark I felt a bit better. The next day we are snorkeling around a blue hole and out of the middle of the hole swims another giant shark. I look at the guide to see if it was a human eater or not and he started to swim for the shark so I knew I was "safe". It is still scary/exciting to see a large shark in the wild. The one downfall to this resort is the bugs. They are loving me. I have 87 mosquito bites on one arm! (Jon counted :) I can't use the regular bug spray cause I am pregnant so I have to use the all natural kind which obviously doesn't work. They also have sand flies so my legs look like I have the chicken pocks. Despite the bug bites we are really having a great time.

Today Jon is scuba diving and I must say I am sad I can't go (cause I am pregnant). I am however getting a massage. I must say again I am not one that likes being pregnant especially on vacation. I can't have an evening cocktail, I can't use bug spray, I can't scuba dive, I don't want my picture taken cause I feel fat (I know I am not fat I am pregnant but still)....oh well only a few more weeks (like 10)...

We really needed this vacation to get ready for baby coming and for Jon to unwind from work and get regenerated to start work again June 13.

Babymoon/Anniversary Trip

Eight years ago today I married my best friend and wow has it been such a fun adventure! I feel so blessed to be married to someone who loves life as much as me. Weather we were homeless and just had our second car stolen or own 2 houses with a Porsche in the garage it hasn't mattered we have been happy through it all!

A year and a half ago we did a photo shoot for this amazing resort in the Bahamas. Part of our payment was a weeks paid trip back, but we had to use this before baby comes. This Friday when Jonny finishes shooting Wipeout and we are leaving to Bahamas to use our stay. This resort is really great and we are so excited for some down time. After our week at Tiamo we are headed to Hawaii for a week to see family and just enjoy Hawaii. After that I am no allowed to travel anymore before baby is born so this is our last trip just us for awhile. As much as I am excited for our trip I am not looking forward to being 7 months pregnant traveling.

Pregnant...

Well a lot has happened since I last wrote. Jonny and I were surprised the day after Christmas with the news I was pregnant. I woke up Christmas night starving, I mean like I hadn't eaten in weeks. I woke up the next day and said something just isn't right. Anyway we got the pink line. No this wasn't planned although we had talked about maybe starting a family in the next year or two. Well I guess God had different plans. I am due at the end of August with a little boy.

We are getting excited but let me tell you it took us a few months to get here. We really have an amazingly fun life. Between travel, work and our crazy social life figuring out how a baby was going to fit in hard. But I say God gives you 9 months to get ready for the changes. We are now getting very excited and look forward to meeting our son.

I however am not one who likes being pregnant. The first trimester I was soooooo sick. I mean I didn't get out of bed for 6 weeks. It was really crazy. I finally started to feel better but as an athlete it is so hard not being able to do the things you have always done. I am not just talking about the no drinking (although that sucks too) but I can't work at all or do sports to the level I was.

I am 6 months pregnant and still exercising but am really surprised how everyday that gets harder. Everyday baby boys is more active and everyday I get more winded doing normal activities. The crazy thing is I know it is going to get worse before it gets better.

For the next few months I will be sharing my pregnant thoughts on my blog since, well I am not working.

As for work, I was in the movie Priest that came out this last weekend and both Jonny and I worked on Fast 5 that came out two weeks ago. I also worked on Pirates 4 that comes out this week. I was one of the mermaids. Jonny is super busy with Wipeout which is just about finished filming for the season. He has also been super busy working on producing a few other shows with some of the Wipeout people as well as some other friends. It is looking very promising for him. It is weird that neither of us are really doing stunt right now. I know we both miss stunts but right now it just isn't in our cards. Back Home

Jonny and I got home last week from working in Puerto Rico on Fast and the Furious 5, just in time for me to start work on the new Pirates of the Caribbean. We had such a great time working together in Puerto Rico. We were there for about three weeks. This work location was especially fun because we don't get to work together very often. We did some of the biggest stunt gags I have ever seen and we were doing them every day. It was great, well except for the darn humidity. I realized why they make movies in California because sweating for 14 hours outside makes for a long day.

I will be working on Pirates for the next few weeks and Jonny starts Wipe out next. Today Jon is doubling David Arquette on a Rascal Flats video doing some driving which is an awesome job for him since he is a huge Rascal Flats fan and loves to drive.

We are starting to get settled into our new house although I think our house sitter has been here more than us. I am happy the construction is over but now the hard part starts, the decorating. I am so not into decorating but I like when it is done.

Catching up...

LIfe has a strange way of taking you in new and different places. Our stunt careers started on Lost and in May the show ended but our careers have never been stronger. It is so funny that people who know we do stunts and are not in the business really only think we worked on that show when actually as the years went by we worked on the show only here and there. Just enough to keep our elite status with United airlines. Since we started on that show 5 years ago our lives have changed in so many ways.

When we moved to Hawaii to follow our dreams of becoming stunt people we had no idea in just 5 shorts years almost to the day Jon would be offered a job as the new producer on the hit ABC show Wipeout and that I would have won the award for best stunt by a woman. Really amazing feats since it can take years just to get your union card to even start working.

Four years ago after living in Hawaii for a year under the wing of my father and the comfort of his help he gently pushed us out of the nest and told us we had to move to LA in order to further our careers. Well as life happens, we found our self with two cars being stolen and homeless for a time living in a hotel room until we could find a place to live. We ended up living in a place that had mold on the bathroom walls. When my mother in law came to visit (a woman who doesn't like to camp) told us we needed to move. Well we saved and saved and two years ago bought a townhouse.

In May we closed on another house with a view to die for and most importantly a pool to play in and jump off our roof. We kept our townhouse and rented it out the executive producer of Wipeout. When he came to look at the house I answered the door in a gown I was trying on for the stunt awards. I apologized and explained that we were getting ready for the stunt awards. This started a dialog with us about stunts and our jobs. He ended up becoming our new tenant and loved Jonny so much he offered him a job as a producer to work with him on Wipeout noteing that his business degree and stunt experience made him perfect for the job.

Since May 1st we bought a house, I won a stunt award, we celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary, and Jon became a producer. I think the biggest feat of all is our wonderful marriage and amazing life together. We really have had the best time together and I am so happy to have such a great person to share the many ups and downs of life.

I now sit on a plane headed to Puerto Rico to work with Jon on a movie. Life really is amazing!

Work and houses

Jonny and I have been busy with work and shopping for a new house. We have been looking for a new house for what seems to be forever. It seems every house on the market is a short sale and it takes forever to get an acceptance from the bank. We are not in a hurry but would love to buy sooner than later since we have been actively looking since July. We just finished remodeling the kitchen in our current house in hopes it will help us get a great renter. It turned out really nice.

Jon leaves next weekend for Atlanta for 3-4 weeks for a movie. I will be there on and off with him. I have been working on getting the footage to update my stunt reel. It is a huge process and I have a lot left to get but I just put together an updated stunt reel with the footage I do have. I am having a tough time deciding what song I like better so I uploaded both versions and sent it along to my family to see what they like better. Here are the two links.

Cleanse...

This week I thought it would be a good idea to do a detox cleanse. I have done the lemonade cleanse before which was more of a fast cleanse than a detox. The one I have been doing...sucks. It is so much harder not because I am hungry but because it is sucking all the toxins from my body which is getting filtered in my liver and makes me feel like I have the flu. Yeah it is awful. Today is the my 7th day and tomorrow I finally get to eat really food. Oh yeah! I am happy I did this but seriously don't think I will do it again although my nutritionsit says it will be easier the next time cause I had 28 years of crap built up. We will see.

It has been non stop raining this week here in LA. I am not sure how I lived in Seattle for those two winters. It is no fun. I am use to being outside everyday either I am hiking, running, roller bladding or just sitting drinking my coffee. I don't mind the rain sometimes but I am happy we don't have it all the time.

Last night Jon worked 13 hours in the freezing cold rain until 1 in the morning...in the WATER which wasn't heated. I felt so bad for him. He was such a trouper about it.

It's been awhile

I have been reprimanded by my husband for not writing in my blog lately, but I ask him when was the last time he wrote on his blog Ha! Anyway, the busier we get the harder it is for me to keep up with my blog and all the other things we have to do day to day. I will try harder to write in here more :)

We have had a very crazy past few months. Hawaii multiple times for work, a photo shoot in Bahamas, work in India, a 12 day vacation in Europe (including October fest) and Christmas in Charleston is a nut shell of our lives since September 1. I know crazy! We are seriously stacking up the frequent flier miles. January in our business is typically pretty slow which is allowing us some time to catch up on our lives.

Work

Jon and I have been staying very busy as usual. I have worked on some new shows I have never worked on before (Desperate Housewives, Hawthorn, House, a new NBC show called Community and others). I am in the second episode of Community playing myself. It is a funny stunt so make sure to watch when the show comes out in the fall. I got to work with Chevy Chase which was pretty cool. Other stunts I have done have been crowd surfing, playing a chimpanzee, stunt driving and other fun stuff.

Friday I am headed to Iowa for two weeks to work on a movie. I have never been to Iowa and am not sure what to expect. I will be working time long hours most of the so I am sure I will be just sleeping on my time off. I should be fun though.

My 10 Year Reunion

I just got back from a week long trip to Washington for my 10 year class reunion. Last Thursday we flew into Pasco Washington because my elementary school's friend husband is a wine maker and they own a winery near there. We spent the day Thursday tasting wine from the barrels of their storage room and going to different tasting rooms around the are. How many times in your life can you drink wine from the barrel with the wine maker? He was telling us how he made the wines and tons of information about wine making in general. We learned so much.

Friday we spent the day on the Columbia river with some other friends of mine playing on a boat. On Saturday, before the reunion, we hung out at another friends of mine parents house and had a few beers. It still feels weird legally drinking around my high school friends parents. I think the highlight of the pre-party was when a girl I grew up with opened a beer with a can of chew. That was awesome!

Since the reunion was about 12 miles out in the country at a barn (yes our reunion was at a barn and hay bales were our chairs, so fun) and no one wanted to drive, we ended up renting a limo. Later I learned that this was some of my friends first time in a limo. Small towns are so cute!

The reunion it self was very fun. When I told people I was going to my 10 year reunion they said that it was going to be a brag fest but it wasn't. It felt to me like everyone was genuinely happy to see everyone.

I think the weirdest part for me was that a lot of people seemed old (aka very mature), not so much in apperance but in life. I think "real" jobs and the "real"world makes you have to grow up where as I live in a fantasy world where really no one grows up. That to me was the strangest part. I think LA is like Neverland, you don't grow up. I am very glad I went and look forward to the 20 year reunion!

Hard at work

I got back from Lake Havasu AZ last week and have been working on other shows here in LA (Heroes and a new show called Hawthorn). Jon is still in Havasu working until the end of the month. We had the most amazing time there. At one point there was like 40 stunt people working and most of them young and super fun. We had such a great time. It is jobs like this that you need to balance out the ones when you leave work in an ambulance.

We spent everyday outside working in the water which was great because it was very hot and the water felt great. It isn't very often that Jon and I get to work together on location so we really enjoyed this job. We were working 6 days a week but on our day off we rented boats and played on the water some more. Here is a picture of me on set and another picture on our day off just having some fun. The picture with Jonny is at a party the production threw for the cast and crew. It was a good time.

Back in Havasu

Yesterday (yes my birthday) we drove back to Lake Havasu City AZ to get back to work on the movie Pirhana 3D. We are both working on the movie and will be here until mid June. Jon is now double two different guys and I am playing a cheerleader and will do some other stunt work in a big scene.

I really can't tell you how much fun it is to be on location working together. It feels like a vacation with some work through in there and they give us each $60 a day for food. Wish I was eating more I would really enjoy that but I will just use it to get spa stuff (dieting for a few weeks for my bikini scene next week, yikes!). Turning 28...

Tomorrow I turn 28. I must say it is strange getting older. I am really enjoying my 20's and the freedom that comes with age. As I get older I become more aware and confident in who I am and who I strive to be.

I have the most amazing life, I really do. I sometimes sit and think about what else I need and I feel like I have it all. A great husband, family, friends, job, house, dogs, my health, ect. I feel so blessed. This year really has been a great year for me. Life just keeps getting better. Even though the wrinkles are starting to show I don't mind too much. I have earned every one from the smiles of my great life. Thank you God for my amazing life and may the smiles of life continue!

Today is our 6th year wedding anniversary! I really can't believe we have been married so long. It is crazy how time passes so quickly. We have had such an amazing 6 years. We have lived such great lives and have had such great times. I enjoy each and everyday with my mate and look forward to many more anniversaries.

Each year we try and do something fun for our anniversary, this year a few of our friends came with us to Santa Barbara CA to do wine tasting and dinner. We took the train to Santa Barbara along the coast which was such a pretty train ride. We had a great day. Thanks to all those who wished us well today. I am always amazed how many people remember our anniversary and call us.

I ended up having to come out to Lake Havasu a day early for a wardrobe fitting so I had to drive out here by myself yesterday. Jon drove out today so he could stay and go to the stunt awards last night. Remember when my car got broken into a few weeks back well, ever since then when I work out I only bring my wallet in the car with me. Yesterday I went to spin class before my 4 and half long drive and put my wallet like usual in the middle consil.

It wasn't until I was in the middle of nowhere and thinking about needing gas that I realaized that I left my wallet in my other car! I think my heart actually stopped. No money, no gas, no ID...nothing! I didn't know what to do so I pulled off the freeway at the next exit and pulled over in this neighborhood to try and figure out what to do. I didn't have enough gas to make it home or to the lake. I called Jon, mom, dad, sister, brother in law...no one answered, so I started crying because I felt so helpless.

I didn't know what to do so I looked around and decided that maybe someone will help me. I did the math and needed about $20 in gas to make it to the lake for my 4pm wardrobe fitting. Crying I walked up to someone house and knocked on the door. I didn't even know what to say my story sounded too unbeliveable. A woman came to the door but only opened it a bit. She wasn't friendly at all and looked at me like I was crazy. She said she couldn't help me but the lady next door was a cop and she might be able to.

The lady next door was just barely nicer and not willing to help me and told me to try across the street. With my ego totally gone my face full of tears and my head hung I knocked in the thrid house. A cute mom, two teenagers and the dad all answered. I began telling them my story and they looked very simpathetic. (I totally pulled the I am a stuntwoman card trying to get to the movie I was working on, I was desperate) The mom said she dosn't carry cash usually but said she would check here purse. All she had was $10 so the teenage girl ran to her room and she had $5! I was so greatfull $15 never felt like so much money. I had these nice things, nice car, nice purse, ipod, but really it ment nothing when I didn't have acutal money. I began crying more becasue they were soooo nice. I aksed for their address to send them a check when I got home and they wouldn't give it to me. They said they were happy to help. I really couldn't belive it. (before I left I asked to use the bathroom :) for those who know me that is totally something I would do)

With their $15 and the $1 I had in my purse I might, I mean might be able to make it, so I got back on the freeway. I slowed my speed down to save on gas milage and turned the ac off when I went up hills. It was such a weird feeling, I am in the middle of the mohavie dessert with no money, by myself, not knowing if I will make it.

The next two hours or so were so stressful. I am watching the clocking knowing I need to be there at 4 and watching my mileage on my navigation checking I will make it. I kid you not, I made it here at 3:55pm and my navigation said I had 2 miles until I ran out of gas! Can you belive it. It was so sureal. I really didn't know if I would make it or not.

I am so grateful to that family who helped me. The world needs more people like them. I still can't belive I went door to door crying and aksing for money. What a day!

Happenings

This Friday I do a stair fall on Ghost Whisperer doubling a guest star but I also double Jennifer in the episode in a different scene.

This Saturday is the World Stunt Awards which is the stunt community awards show aka our Oscars. It is always a fun time and usually it is televised on one of the cable channels like A&E but due to the economy our sponsors cut back on the funding. It still will be a fun time and is always followed by a great party.

On Sunday we are headed to Lake Havasu AZ to work on a movie called Piranha 3-D. Both Jon and I will be working on the film off and on for the next month. We both are doing a couple different things. Jon is doubling one of the stars and is playing himself in a big water scene and I was cast as a cheerleader and will also be doing some water stuff as just a college girl. It should be fun! We always have a great time working together but being on location ends up feeling like a vacation with some work thrown in there.

Obsessed stuff

I hope you all went and watch Obsessed! It was number 1 the weekend it came out. Here a picture from the high fall into the glass table I did. This was take three of the fall and the last shot of a 17 hour day which I was in every shot and the last day of the movie. I was pretty beat up at this point from the fight and bloody from the glass I was laying in . You can tell from the look on my face I was tired and worn out. I think I slept for a week straight after we wrapped. I still have a scar on my arm from this take from the glass. We were only suppose to do this shot twice but on the first take all 5 cameras missed my fall so I had to do it again which I was fine with because more times equals more money!

The other picture is of me rehearsing the fall through the ceiling, chandelier stuff and the fall into the table.

This was such a great movie to work on. I really had to push myself to my limits but I has such an amazing time. Here is an interview where Ali talks about the stunt work and mentions me. It is about 30 seconds into the video.

Robbed again...and again...and again...and again

I am so over being robbed. Today my friend and I went on a hike and when we go back to my car, the window was broken and both of our purses where stolen. (BTW my purse was hidden under the seat) Yeah everything gone, my drivers license, my social security card (don't tell me I shouldn't keep my ss card and driv. license together I know but I had to because I just worked and you need both pieces of ID for the employment paperwork), over a thousand dollars in cash and check and gift cars, my fancy make up, my Burburry glasses, my great purse, all my credit cars, my insurance cards, and on and on and on...

I have had two cars stolen and now my car broken into and my purse stolen twice. That makes 4 times having thousands of dollars stolen from me. Not counting last month when Jon was in Hawaii working on Lost he put his per deim and wedding ring in the safe of the hotel room and they were stolen. I am sooooooo over being robbed. It really pisses me off. I work so hard for my money and to have it taken from me by slimy people who don't work for it is the worst feeling.

I will be spending the rest of the week doing all the work that comes with having your world stolen, new drivers license, new ss card, new credit cards, file an alert the with credit companies in case they try to steel my ID, new glasses and contacts, new purse, cancel the checks I had in my purse, get my window of my SUV fixed, and on and on... fun times.

Chick Fight in Obsessed

That is what they are saying about the new movie I did last year called Obsessed which opens this Friday April 24th. I was Ali Larter's stunt double in this movie. We have a huge fight with Beyonce at the end of the movie. I did some of my hardest stunts on that movie. I am not sure how the stunts will look, it seems they always edit the crap out of the stunts. I heard the fight is much shorter than what we actually shot but hopefully it is still fun.

Ali, Beyonce and Beyonce's stunt double were great to work with. We had a lot of fun doing the fight. Beyonce was so great, I think in part to her being a dancer. She learned the fight fast and did a great job. She was very sweet and professional on the set. Ali was great too. She really made this character believable. It was fun to watch her work.

Ali did an interview about Obsessed and here is what she had to say about the fight:

"How much of the stunts are done by you?

Ali Larter: Umm about half. I have an amazing stunt double - Heather! I have a huge fight sequence in “Obsessed” with me and Beyonce and she was able to work in that also. Heather makes me look so good!!"

Jonny Heads Down Under

At about 1 pm today a friend of Jonny's called him and asked him if he wanted to fly to Australia to visit a mutual friend of ours who lives there. Jonny answered "Sure, when were you thinking about going?" and out friend responded "How about tonight?" Long story short I took Jon and his friend to the airport about an hour ago to fly to Australia on a flight they booked today. It is crazy the life we lead. I feel you have to do these crazy things in life and embrace great opportunities that come our way. That is truly what makes life great!

I was of course invited but I have to work the rest of the week and next week I have 8 woman from my family (aunts, cousin, cousin's daughter, cousin's girlfriend, sister and mom) coming to stay at my house for 5 days for a woman's weekend. It should be a really fun time. We have some great things planned for when they are here including Disneyland, nice dinners at great restaurants in LA, at home spa day and much more. It should be a fun time.

I am so excited for Jon. I told him to take lots of pictures and I will have him do a write up on his trip once he gets home.

Fun Times

Jon and I had company in town from New Jersey this weekend. We had a lot of fun and did some great tourist stuff. The highlight for me was an indoor sky diving chamber called iFly. Basically it is a chamber that simulates what it would feel like sky diving and flying in the air. It was soooo much fun. If feels like you are floating in the air. I totally recommend it.

I am working this week on Criminal Minds which has been fun. It is my first time I have worked on that show. I like the premise so I may actually end up checking it out.

In Hawaii

Last minute I decided to fly to Hawaii to see Jon because he was here working on Lost. He extended his trip (he was done Tuesday night) so we could take a mini vacation. We spent the last couple of days at a nice resort in Wakiki which was funny since we lived like a half a mile from where we were staying. We had a really great relaxing time. There were two other family friends of our that were on vacation too. We had a really great time.

Today every one went home except me, I flew to Kona to see my dad, sister and step mom. I will be here until Wednesday enjoying my family.

It is always hard to leave town because of work. Since I have been here I have had 4 work calls. I guess at some point you just have to live life knowing there will always be another job.

My stair fall went great on Friday. I still laugh at my self that I do things like throw myself down a stair case and love it. I know it is weird. Jon is still in Hawaii. I miss him so much but am happy he is working.

Cali the new dog is settling in fine. Her and Jon's movie came out this weekend, I love you man. I haven't seen it yet but will on Tuesday. I am still sick but I think I may be getting better, I hope anyway.

We got a new bedroom furniture set this week. I feel like such a grown up. Jon and I have been so transient since we have been together that we have never bought a bedroom set. We literally leave our cloths on the floor in closet in stacks but not anymore with our new dresser. We are so grown up. Hers is a picture of our new bed room furniture.

Jon is in Hawaii working on Lost. He left on Sunday and won't get back until some time next week. I am work a few days this week including a stair fall on Friday which should be fun.

Last night when I got off work after midnight sometime I blew a tire. I was stuck on the side of the road for over an hour. Not my favorite place to be with all the drunks on the road for St. Patrick's day.

I have been sick and trying to get over bronchitis for over 10 days. I hate being sick. I haven't worked out in forever which is really hard for me because I usually so am active. I have been stuck at home but on the bright side I have been able to hang out with my new dog, Cali. She is super sweet and fitting right in.

I came across this article about Daniel Radcliffe's aka Harry Potter, stunt double who was seriously injured on the set of the new Harry Potter movie. He just learned he will never walk again. I can't imagine how hard it is for an athlete to hear that news. My heart and prayers go out to him. Here is the article...

Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double wept after he was told he will never walk again following an accident on the set of the new Harry Potter movie, according to reports.
David Holmes was hospitalised in January with a back injury after falling from a harness at Leavesden Studios, near Watford, Hertfordshire, where he was practising flying scenes for the forthcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The 25-year-old had surgery at the hospital, which specialises in spinal injuries.

Holmes' family published a message on his personal Facebook page to let friends know he was confident of a recovery: "David wants to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and wishes. And don't worry... the stunt-runt will be back."

But now doctors have delivered the devastating news that Holmes will be confined to a wheelchair and will never be able to walk again, according to Britain's The People newspaper.
A source tells the publication, "David is struggling to come to terms with the news. It's terrible news but his family and friends are trying to offer him as much support as they can.

"He is young and was very good at his job. But his life will be completely altered now."
But Holmes refuses to give up hope, despite the doctors' diagnosis.
The source adds, "Although David has been told he'll never walk again he is still not giving up hope. Deep down he knows it's unlikely but it's still early days and so he's not giving up completely."

Our New Dog...

Not sure what possesed us but Jon and I got a new dog but she is not just any dog she is staring in the upcoming movie I love You Man. You may have seen her in the previews but if not she is a super cute puggle that is about the same age as the puggle we already have. We got her today on a trail basis to see how she fits into our family. We have an agreement with the studio that she is our dog unless they need her for another movie and in that case she would work and then come home after the show. She is our movie star dog. The best part of the story is Jon doubled the star of I Love You Man, Paul Rudd. Unfortunatly they cut most all of his stunts out but you will be able to see them on the deleted scenes on the DVD. Jon actually met our new dog on the movie set last year. Strange how small this business is. Her name was Jewel but we changed it to Cali for California. She is our California girl. Make sure you go see the new movie I love You Man that opens March 20 to see Cali and Jon!

Jon's at Racing school

Anyone who as ever driven with Jon knows how much he loves to drive fast, very fast. Well this week he is at Bondurant Driving School a car racing school. It is a 4 day long course in Phoenix, AZ. He is having a blast! We both have been to stunt driving school where they teach you how to shake the tires loose with control, now he is learning a ton of detail on how to not shake the car loose while driving at crazy speeds and driving very fast cars. Tomorrow in fact I think he gets to drive the F-1 style Formula cars. He is lovin' it!

The Oscars

I must say I love movies, I love going to movies, I love working in movies and I love the Oscars. Hugh Jackman was a great host. I was super happy Slumdog won best picture. That was one of the best movies in a long time. If you haven't seen it go see it.

As I sit here tonight watching the different departments that make up a movie get celebrated I can't help but wonder when will stunt people be acknowledged? How do you balance not ruining the illusion with giving credit to the talented people who make all those action sequences so amazing. Will Smith was on stage tonight and gave a tribute to action movie sequences but made no mention of the stunt people who made that happen. We have been fighting for years to be included in the oscars but get denied. It was just last year that we were included in the SAG awards.

Sorry I didn't post earlier but this episode sneaked up on me. Jon is on the Grey's Anatomy tonight doubling McDreamy aka Patrick Dempsey.

Here is a picture of Jon and working this week. I was playing an old lady and Jon had to tackle me. It was pretty fun. I kept telling him it was ok to really hit me but he didn't feel right. I said I would rather you hit me hard once then go easy on me and not get it. Not many people's wife's tell them to tackle them harder. What a strange and amazing life!

I am on Ghost Whisperer this Friday at 8pm on CBS. I usually double Jennifer Love Hewitt but on this episode I am doubling a guest star. This was the stunt I did right before Thanksgiving that gave me a limp for week and a 10 inch long scar on my leg. I am sure it won't look as hard core as it was but it was one of the more technical stunts I have done. I will let you know exactly what I did after the episode airs but chances are you will spot me.

Here is a picture from Heroes. I think this is from the episode that aired this last week. When I first came to work they handed me a bra and panties and they said this was my wardrobe. I was like freaking out not ready for my bikini close up but they decided to add this lovely robe. It was the nicest, softest robe I have ever felt. I loved it and wanted to buy one. I am happy to say that I won my first award as a stuntwoman...I won a SAG Award! The award show was last weekend and I haven't had a chance to tell you guys (due to my surgery). I along with 15 or so other won a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series for Heroes. I double Ali Larter as well as a few guest stars that have come on the show. I was nominated last year for Lost but we didn't win.

Last year was the first year that stunts were acknowledge at the SAG Awards (SAG stands for Screen Actors Guild which is the union all stunt people and actors are a part of). We are the only winners not announced at the televised show. Sometimes I think Hollywood doesn't want to ruin the illusion that there are stunt people. Some people get up set by that and others are ok with being behind the scenes.

I am just happy to have won!

Wisdom Teeth

Not sure why they call them wisdom teeth but I am having surgery to remove all 4 of them today. Not very excited about it but I am happy to not have my mouth hurt. Pray for a quick recovery because I have to work Thursday night.

Jon worked yesterday and accidental got punched in the face. He took one right in the nose. I guess it all comes with the job. Everyone wants to be a stuntman until they get hurt.

Catching Up

It has been forever since I last posted. Sorry...the holiday times just get crazy. To catch you up first off, Jon and I worked on the movie the Wrester last year. Do you remember last year when I wrote about my friend Brian who was the triple amputee? That was the movie I worked on with him. It is great to see how well the movie did. The director was really nice and you could just tell he had a vision of what he wanted. If you do see it prepare yourself for a lot of nudity.

Jon and I have started the new year out with well with work. We have both been working which is great. Jon has worked on CSI:NY and Grey's Anatomy and I have been working on Ghost Whisperer. Next week we both will be doing motion capture for a video game. Work is good!

Last week our dog got poised somehow by something she ate. She almost died it was so scary. We rushed her to the pet hospital and they kept her over night. She is fine now but it was really scary. I can't imagine having a kid that got sick when I was so upset by my dog. Crazy how much you love we love our dog.

We are in Washington State with my family enjoying the Christmas season. We are having an amazing time. Last night we went sledding with my cousins and after our wonderful dinner we sang Christmas songs by the fire. It was picture perfect!

Getting to Washington was quite an adventure. The Pacific Northwest got dumped on with snow last weekend. We were suppose to fly in Sunday night but along with every other flight our flight got canceled. We were rescheduled to fly out Monday. Due to airport delays it took us 14 hours to get to my mom's house. Which included waiting two and half hours at the airport for our luggage which never came. On the way from the the airport to my mom's house the chains on the car broke which added to our already long day.

The next day Jon went back to the airport and they found his bag, however they never found mine. They still don't know where my bags are 5 days later. The next day Jon was at the store shopping for toiletries and our credit card got denied. I called the credit card company and they wanted to confirm some recent charges. It ends up someone in Florida has been using our credit card. Merry Christmas! Lost bags and stolen credit cards. Gotta love the season.

In the end I am just super happy to have made it home. You can't beat sledding and fires with carols!

Up coming movies

Jon and I both have movies we doubled lead actors in coming out this coming spring. Both of these movies just released the trailers.

Jon doubled Paul Rudd in the upcoming comedy I Love you Man which looks very funny. Here is the trailer for the movie, click here to watch. He did his hardest stunt to date in this movie. I can't tell you what it is but you will have to watch the movie to see.

I worked for about two months on a movie called Obsessed starting Beyonce and the girl I doubled, Ali Larter. I did my hardest stunts to date in this movie I can't tell you what they all are but you can see a taste of them in the trailer. Work VS Life?

When I was in the business world sitting behind a desk this question was easy, life. However, in show biz this question is a bit more complicated. In our jobs we don't usually work everyday. Works seems to come and go, sometimes you are so busy and other times you are wondering if the phone will ring again. It is a very strange world to live in.

I turned down thousands of dollars of work to go to Europe in September. Some may think that is crazy but I choose to live my life. However, I got a call to work Wednesday before Thanksgiving meaning my plans I had made to fly to see family would have to be changed for work.

Would you change your holiday plans for a few thousand dollars? It is a tough question. One I have to deal with often. It seems I end up putting a price tag on my time. You have to make plans knowing they may be changed. When I went to Europe in September no amount of money would have made me miss my trip. In this economy you really have to take work when it comes. I feel very very very blessed to have a home and not be worried about paying my bills. This type of live makes it very hard to make plans.

One of my friends almost missed his wedding because he got a staring role in a huge movie. What would you do? I choose life but sometimes you have to balance that with work. I don't need millions and millions I just need my family, God and my husband the rest just falls into place, but that is just my priorities. I have learned in my 27 years money doesn't buy happieness but it can take you to Europe and help you buy a house.

Luckily the winds are not blowing in our direction, however they closed down the freeway from our house to downtown LA. Jon has to work tonight and we are not really sure how he is going to get there. Hopefully they will open the freeway up soon. Crazy!

Busy Weekend

My cousin and his wife were in town this weekend from Seattle. We had a very busy time. We took them to Disneyland, a party at a friends house, a benefit wine/cheese tasting party, a comedy show, Hollywood Haunt (a Halloween Party in Hollywood thrown by the one and only V), and gave them the full LA tour. It was fun. We gave them a taste of a normal weekend with Jon and Heather.

Here is a picture from the Hollywood Haunt Halloween party (it is a very candid picture the photographer at the party took). It was great fun however it feels like Halloween in Hollywood is just an excuse for girls to dress skanky. As for me, I dressed up like a little kid and whore my onesy pj's (you know what little kids where with the feet built in and the zipper that starts below your knee, you know you whore it as a kid) and Jon was a guido from New Jersey. We didn't have much time to prepare costumes so this is what we came up with. It was a good time!

Fire!

Last night when we were driving home from visiting a set we saw in the distance a bright orange light in the night sky. It seemed far away but yet very close. As we got closer we realized that the orange light was a fire and we were headed right for it. The fire was directly next to the freeway on our drive home. (the picture above is what it looked like when we were driving up to it and the picture below was up next to it, taken from my camera phone)

We pulled over to take some pictures. I couldn't believe how close we were to a real fire. We could feel the heat. We were so surprised they didn't close the freeway down since it as literally touching the cement wall that separated us from the fire. After a few pictures we took off and learned later that minutes after we left they closed the freeway down for hours. I was so happy we made it threw. It was such an experience.

I hope you guys watched my fun fight on Friday night on Ghost Whisperer. In cased you missed it, I did a fight that was suppose to take place inside a computer game. Since we were supposedly in the video game we shot the whole fight on green screen. Here is a picture of me doing a ratchet (an air pressure thing that yanks you powerfully through the air). Because I was doing the fight in stilettos and a bustier it made some of the stunts in the fight a bit more difficult. When I was doing my ratchet the jerk vest (a type of harness you wear that they attach the cable to) was a special kind that didn't go over my shoulders so it didn't spread the power out over my body it basically pulled my whole body from my ribs. On the first rehearsal I thought it cut me in half. We ended up putting something in between my body and the harness that helped but let me tell you the first one was a dosy. Next time I know and as dad says "live and learn or you don't live long." I stand by that.

Also it is not easy doing a double kick back flip in giant stiletto heals. It throws your whole weight distribution out of wack. It was fun though. Here are a few pictures from the fight.BTW did I mention how great Jennifer Love is to work with. She really is an amazing person!

Did you watch Terminator this week? If you did, did you see the two terminators fighting? The other terminator was a stunt girl who is also a contortionist. She is amazing and her body can do some crazy stuff. Summer (the actress) ended up doing most of the fight on film. I would rehearse it and set it up for cameras but Summer did most of it on film. She is great and the fight turned out really good. Here is a picture of me in Terminator make up. It was fun make up to wear.

I have been bad about letting you guys know when I am on TV. Sorry it is hard to keep up with it. I worked the past couple of days. I worked over 17 hours yesterday. It was such a long day but it went well.

Home from Europe

We arrived home from Europe Saturday night. Unfortunately a lady on the plane next to me got me sick. She was blowing her mucus all over the place, so I woke up Sunday with a nasty cold. I am feeling a tinny bit better thankfully because I am working today. I feel so bless to have had this wonderful vacation and come home to work. I am working a few days this week (on Heroes and Ghost Whisperer) and next week (on Sarah Conner Chronicles).

We are having the most amazing time in Europe! So far we have been to London, Paris, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Florence and now we are in a Villa in Tuscany. I cant even begin to tell what an amazing time we are having. I will write in detail all about our trip when I get back home but I will tell you Jonny got to drive a Ferrari in Monte Carlo on the F1 track. Anyone who knows Jon knows that was like a life time dream come true.

I think for me I am most enjoying the food. We keep saying we are eating our way through Europe. I definitely will have to diet when I get home or the actresses will fire me, but until then I am enjoying every second. One of my highlights so far was the Eiffel tower all lite up at night. It was so romantic being there with Jon. I have been to the Eiffel town when I was in High School but having my husband there was just amazing and it was all light up so beautiful. It just twinkled.

I am also loving Tuscany. I cant wait to come back. Tomorrow we are headed to Rome and on Saturday we are headed to Spain. I miss my dog but I am so loving this trip! (This is a picture of where we are staying in Tuscany)

Vacation time!

Jon and I have been working like crazy this year with little time off and have decided to take a vacation. We are headed to Europe for 2 weeks! I am so excited. With buying a new house, fixing it up and working I am so in need of a vacation. It is hard to turn work down for a vacation (it is my first time turning work down for personal reasons ever!) but I guess you have to do it. In our jobs we don't get 2 weeks paid vacation or anything like that. You only get paid when you work.

We leave tomorrow and start our trip off in London then Paris, Cannes (southern France), Monaco, Florence (staying in Tuscany), Rome and that is just the first 8 days. From Rome we head to Marbella Spain for a week on the Mediterranean in a villa.

I am especially excited to go back to Spain because we will be staying only 30 miles away from Malaga where I decided Jon was the man for me. The summer before we were married we lived in Malaga for the summer and lived in a youth hostel and had the most amazing time. I have a couple of restaurants I am really excited about going back to.

There are 4 of us going on the trip, Jon, me, Rita Jon's mom and our friend Amy. It will be Jon with three ladies traveling around Europe. It should be an amazing adventure! I will be sure to share pictures and stories once I get back.

I am walking behind her during the barrels sparking. You can tell it is me because I have on the skirt. They wanted the brunettes in the front so that is why it is hard to see me.

Pink was so nice and great to work with. Backstage they were serving Dom Perignon champagne which is always a treat. Probably one of funnest jobs.

I am working on the MTV Video Music Awards that air live tonight. I am not doing anything crazy but it should be a really fun day of work. Award shows are always fun. I am in the Pink (the singer) performance so look for me however I really doubt you will be able to see me. I am going to be in punk rock cloths which is very much out side my element so it will be like Halloween. I am excited!

Wish I was at the Rodeo

Every Labor Day weekend growing up was spent in my home town , Ellensburg WA, at the 25th largest Rodeo, The Ellesnburg Rodeo. I haven't been back since I graduated high school. Every year I keep trying to get back but every year something comes up and I am not able to make it. This year was no exception.

I would love to take my husband from New Jersey because he has never been to a Rodeo and it was such a big part of my life growing up. I wonder if it would be as fun now that I don't have to sneak into the beer garden and that I am an adult. Someday I will get back. Perhaps it will work out next year.

Emmy Party

On Saturday night we went to an Emmy Party to Celebrate those nominated for best stunt coordinator. We went last year and it was so much fun and this year was no different. The party had a 1920's theme so a lot of people dressed up as mobsters and flappers. There was a live swing band that Jon and I took full advantage of. We danced to much and had such a great time.

Today I worked on The Sarah Connor Chronicles doubling a guest star girl. It was a fun stunt but a stinger. Jon is at the Dodgers game tonight. He is getting spoiled with VIP tickets that include all you can eat and drink. It should be fun.

We have been working so much lately which is great but we have had little time to enjoy the summer, so tomorrow we are doing to the beach to enjoy the sunshine. I am super excited except my body is a little bruised from some stunts so I look like a battered wife in a bathing suit which I think is so funny!

Earthquakes and Work

I know the earthquake was a few days ago but I haven't had a chance until now to write about it. I was leaving my chiropractor's office (every stuntman has one) I was on the top floor of a building and before I went down the elevator I decided to use the restroom. I was on the toilet when the quake hit and because I was in a tall building the rocking and rolling was accentuated. I jumped off the toilet and went back to the doctors office because you never know if the earthquake is going to get bigger and I didn't want to get stuck in the bathroom. Had I not used the restroom I would be in the elevator when the quake hit. I guess my small bladder helped me. Kinda funny place to be when an earthquake hits.

I am doing some water stuff this week for work and I have to jump off a 20 ft plat form into water. When I was younger I use to jump off bridges so it is funny that bridge jumping has ended up being work training.

When Jon was younger he was a junior cadet for the police which paid off this week. Jon was the stunt coordinator for a low budget movie and ended up also being the technical adviser for the police. Here is a picture of Jon and a some stunt guys he hired for his movie.

Bad Blogger

I have been a very bad blogger lately. Both Jon and I have been so crazy I mean crazy busy that we have had no spare time for anything except sleep and work. I have been working 6-7 days a week 12-17 hours a day and a two hour commute and sleep has been hard to come by. I have been working on Heroes (doubling Ali Larter), Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles (doubling Summer Glau and another girl), a Bollywood moive (playing a character), the Ghost Whisperer (doubling Jennifer Love Hewitt) and a couple other smaller movies. I am now the regular double on most of these shows. I feel so blessed to have been in LA for two years and doubling these girls on such great shows. It has been really fun and I have been doing some very fun stunts. I must say I need to visit the Chiropractor on my next day off (not sure when that is going to be).

In the middle of our working spree I made a quick trip to NJ for my sister in laws wedding in New Jersey. It was a fun time but a very short trip. Here is a picture from the wedding.

Also, my mom flew and aunt flew out over July 4th weekend and redo my back patio. We worked our butts off and it turned out great. It was a great time. Here are before and after pictures of our patio.

Working on Heroes

I have been doubling Ali Larter on a movie and this week I was hired to double her on Heroes. It was a big step to double and an actor on a movie and on their TV show. She has been great to work with. I work on the movie again this weekend to finish up the movie. The movie will be great and you will have to see.

Jon is back in Boston working on a the Bruce Willis movie the Surrogates. He had a hard day of stunts today and I have very happy for him. He really is becoming a great stunt guy. He flies home Saturday afternoon and works on another show Saturday night. Busy busy. Sometimes work leaves little time to sleep. I know he will be tired when he is done but he needs to rest because he is doing a car hit next week. It won't be shot like mine and as brutal luckily but it still will be a tough stunt. I am proud of him.

Tired

I have been working like crazy which is really great but I am really tired. I have had two days off in the last three weeks and I have been doing some physically hard stunts where I am bruised and banged up. It is crazy when you are working 14 hours a day and commuting 3 that you have little time to even sleep. I love to work and in this business you have to take it when you can get it. Jon has also been working a lot which is also good because if SAG goes on strike at the end of the month (which could happen) we will be all set.

I think the people I work with think I am little crazy because I just don't hold back when I am doing stunts. I give my all and sell out every time and believe that if you don't have a heart for stunts don't waist my time. I love stunts and it is my passion and I am happy that I have the honor to make a living doing it. Yes, it is hard when I come home all banged up but the adrenaline rush I get is amazing. I use to pay people for stuff like that now I get paid for it. I couldn't be happier with my job.

However with working so much we have had little time to spend on our house. We still have some stuff in boxes and still have many projects that are in limbo. I guess we will get to them in time. My mom and aunt are coming out in July to help so that will be really great. In the mean time we are pluging away. If I haven' returned your phone call don't get mad I will call you soon. cheers!

Keeping Busy

Between being new home owners, working and working out I find little time for anything else lately. I did manage to go to the Dodgers game last night for my friends birthday.

The hair people on the movie I am working on had my hair highlighted by the girl I am doubling's hair colorist to match the actresses exactly. It is still blond just a different shade now. They did this last year when I worked on National Treasure 2. It is great to get my hair done and not have to pay for it. I love it!

Jonny flew to Boston on Tuesday to work on a movie called the The Surrogates. He gets home next week. I miss him! Normally I would go with him but I have to stay here to work. I have been busy working with little time off which is good since our SAG contract with the producers is up at the end of the month and SAG could strike. Who knows if we will or not but it is looming over the business right now. We will see. I am not too worried about it. If we do strike it is vacation time!

Whenever people find out I do stunts I get one of two answers, you guys are crazy or I have always wanted to do stunts and think that is so cool. To those who think we are crazy, they are right. However, I think people who sit behind a desk all day are equally as crazy. To those who want to do stunts, next time you look down a flight of stairs think about running and throwing your self down those stairs over and over again because the camera man keeps missing the shot or next time a car drives by you as cross the street think about getting hit by that car. That is how I and many other stunt professionals see the world.

I have been in rehearsals all week for a big fight. I can't give details but let me just say it will be brutal and I mean brutal. I am so sore and beat up just from rehearsing and walking through it with pads on and in my work out cloths. Sometimes I stop and think about what I am doing and think it is crazy that I get paid to do this. To those out there who want to do stunts we are all a little crazy but I wouldn't want it any other way.

5 Year Anniversary - Hard at Work

This is Jonathan. Heather asked me to put up a quick post in regards to today being our 5-year anniversary. She can't do it herself because she just booked a job doubling the lead actress, Ali Larter (from the TV show Heroes), in a movie called Obsessed. She got the job, and started work, yesterday and will be on it for the next month, which is why she's working on our anniversary. It's a huge gig and we're both really excited about it. I couldn't be more proud of all the success Heather has had in this business...and in just about anything else she does.

People ask me all the time why I got married so young (22), and if, and how I'm still happy, being that we were married before we had a chance to "really experience life and see what's out there". I always tell them the same things, "that I found the right one early, and I knew then that Heather was a gift and blessing unlike anything I had ever had in my life before, and that I couldn't let it go". I thank God everyday for putting Heather in my life, and not a moment too soon.

Reflecting on our journey that's taken us from NJ to CO, WA, HI, and now CA, I can't imagine the last 8-years without Heather, and wouldn't have made the journey and be where I am today if I didn't have this partner to take every brazen plunge with. It sounds cliche, but it's actually the honest truth that I love Heather more today than I did yesterday or 5 years ago or 8 years ago and our love has grown through every step of our journey together.

As to being married young for the past 5 years...I wouldn't have it any other way and I'm truly blessed to have had as good a 5 years with the love of my live and best friend as I have. I've missed nothing and gained everything.

Sadly, they say in this business you can tell how successful a stuntman is by the number of marriages he's gone through. Well, I guess we'll just keep on being fantastically happy failures for the next 50+ years or just go on trumping the statistics. Heather and I have a tendency of doing that anyway.

Jon Earns his strips

There are days in every stuntman's career that you will feel the rest of your life. Last Tuesday was one of those days for Jonathan. He spent the whole day getting rocked by other stunt guys wearing shorts and a t-shirt so he was only able to where a few pads. He was doubling Paul Rudd on a new movie called I Love You, Man. Jon was basically a human rag doll. One of the stunts he did is called a pin wheel where you jump in the air and one guy hits you from the top and another guy hits you from the bottom and you go head over heal before you land. He did this six times and then proceeded to a full day of getting his butt knocked around. When he came home he had imprints on his back from where his pads tore into his skin. It is days like that that make stuntmen stuntmen. He cowboyed up as we say in the business. Everyone says they want to be a stuntman until they are faced with those kind of days. This was Jon's day to prove himself as a kick ass stuntman and I am proud of him.

Working Tomorrow

Tomorrow I am working on Monk doubling a guest star. I worked on this show about a year and half ago so it will be fun to work on it again. I was supposed to work at the motion capture studio but it is just doing demonstration of how their technology works so I am having Chris, Jon's brother take my place. Chris is staying with us and helping us fix up our house, so giving him a day of paid work makes me feel like it is worth his time to be here. He worked with me last week filling in for Jon doing the same thing because Jon was working on Avatar, a James Cameron movie.

The house work is coming along well. We finished the wood floors today and they look really good. Now we have to paint and do the molding and the living room will be done. My mom is flying in Wednesday to help do some work around here like taking down the ugly wallpaper, painting and working outside. It will be great to have her here.

Sorry I have been MIA but life has been crazy and finding an Internet connection has not been easy. We have spent the past three weeks working non stop and traveling all over the country (NY, Rhode Island, LA, New Jersey and Utah) and the few seconds we had at home we were dealing with paper work for the new house and packing. When I was in Utah last weekend Jon with the help of some great guys moved us into our new house. I was so sad I wasn't here for the move HA! I was working hard on a TV pilot which I hope gets picked up because the girl I was doubling will have tons of action, I am a great double for her (her mom took pictures and called us twins), she is the nicest sweetest actress I have worked with so I would love to work with her again.

We love our new house! It weird being a home owner I really do feel like a grown up, not sure if that is a good thing. Jon is installing wood floors down stairs and I have been busy attempting to take off the awful wall paper. I am so not good at stuff like that. You want me to get hit by cars, play football no problem but working on and decorating a house I am terrible. Thank goodness for a great mom and mother in law who have been helping via the phone. I am begging them to come visit aka help me. I don't think I will have to beg to hard.

Jon and I have been crazy lately working all over the country and trying to do all the paper work and finish things up so we can close on our new house. Early last week we were in NY then midweek we flew to Seattle to attend my cousins wedding, Sunday night we flew back to LA. We are home for two days before we head off to Rhode Island to work on another movie. From RI we drive to NJ on Friday night so we can attend my sister-in-laws bridal show on Saturday, then on Sunday we fly back to LA. I am home for two days before I fly to Utah to work on yet another movie for a few days. Jon is not going to Utah so he will be home moving out of our current apartment into our new house. Crazy Crazy!

Since the strike has ended with the writers Jon and I have been busy working which is great since we took the plunge and bought a house. I have been working on the TV show Moonlight on CBS and Jon has worked on the TV show Numbers and a moved called Avatar. We fly out the end of this week to work in NY on a movie called The Taking of Pelham 123. We have a few other things in the pipe line so hopefully they will work out.

Work and a House

It is crazy just how busy my world is and I don't have a regular job. This week Jon worked on the show Numbers and I worked doing some motion capture which was really cool. They actually did facial capture. They put the little dots all over my face and the computer can captures all my facial movement. It is pretty cool.

We put an offer on a townhouse that was a forclosure and it was accepted yesterday! It is a GREAT deal and we are so excited. It is 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, two stories, two car garage, 9 foot vaulded cealings both downstairs and up, 1700 sq feet not including the garage, speakers in the ceiling for music all over the house, a giant master bath with a huge tub and seperate shower and a seprate room for the toilet, a huge walk in closet, it backs up to the pool, it is an end unit, we have great friends who live on the other side of the pool, a nice patio where we can actually plant some flowers, did I mention it was a great deal! So hopefully all will work out and we will close on April 25. I am not excited about the next month because I hate contracts and all that. I feel like such a grown up.

Sorry it has been so long since I last wrote. I have honestly meant to write but have been soooo busy that I have barely have time to sleep. Where to start...Jon has been working on a cool project called Tintin which is directed by both Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg. Talk about a very cool project to work on. Two of the biggest directors ever and he is work with them both.

My friend Brian Anderson was in town last week (my friend who is the triple amputee from Iraq) because he was working on CSY:NY as a guest start. We hung out a bit and were able to grab dinner one night. It was great to see him. He really is a great guy. Make sure you look for him on CSI:NY it is his acting debut.

I worked on a commercial today. It was fun because it was a period piece and I was actually a princess. I had the royal robe, crown and drag queen make up. It really was a fun shoot. The commercial is European so it won't air in the US so you won't get to see it.

We have been shopping for a house which has really been taking up most of my time. Between dealing with shady mortgage brokers, looking at houses and trying to figure out what will be a good investment I have little time for anything else. It seems to be a pretty good time to buy in California and we aren't trying to sell anything so we figured we would begin the journey. Not so much fun, I will be honest.

The Acadamy Awards

Did you all watch the Oscars last night? I always enjoy watching the fun show, however I couldn't help but wonder why stunts are still not part of the awards. When you watch the clips they use for the movies when they are announced often times they use the stunts even if the movie is a drama.

It was great they included stunts for the first time at the SAG awards so perhaps the Oscars will be next. I know we have been fighting for it for years but in Hollywood stunts are sort of like the red headed step child (aunt marry this is nothing against red heads it is just a saying :). By giving us an award they blow the whistle that the actors don't do their own stunts and I do understand keeping the allure there. The least they should do is give an award for 2-unit director (they are often ex-stuntmen who direct all the action i.e. car chases, fights, ratchets...). They give it to the guy who directs the actors who say lines but on some movies that is only part of the story the action can be equally important. I will get off my soapbox now :)

Didn't Win but got a Certification

Even though Lost didn't win the SAG Award for Outstanding performance by a Stunt Ensambel for a TV show I got a certificate in the mail that congratulates me for being nominated. That is pretty cool. Being nominated for a SAG award was cool enough but to get an actual certificate for my nomination is also very cool. Anyway here is a picture taken from my cell phone of my certificate.

My New Hero

This past weekend Jon and I worked in Philadelphia on a movie called The Wrestler . This was one of the best movies I have ever worked on because we had the honor to work with the most unorthodox stuntman, Bryan Anderson. Bryan is an ex-gymnast, ex-soldier, winner of the Purple Heart and a triple amputee. He lost both his legs and part of his left arm in a roadside bomb. The only reason he still has his right hand is because he was taking a drag from his cigarette when the bomb went off.

Last January Bryan was on the cover of Esquire magazine and inside the cover story he said he would like to become a stuntman, “I could be on prosthetics, and they could blow my legs off.” Doug Crosby, the stunt coordinator for The Wrestler, read that article and began thinking of a way to make Bryan's dream a reality. He thought of a cleaver way to incorporate Bryan into the movie and hired him for his first job as a stuntman. (You will have to see the movie to see how they used him.) I had the privilege to work with Bryan on his first day of work as a stuntman.

Bryan is my same age, full of life, so funny and looks at life as if there is nothing stopping him from following his dreams. He is the spokesman for a wheelchair company, he travels around the country giving talks but he is still a 26 year old guy.

To me this sums up Bryan's way of looking at life: When he first noticed his legs and hand where gone he looked at his buddy and said "Do you think I’ll ever get laid again?" I love this guy. My new Hero, stuntman Bryan Anderson.

Going to the East Coast

Tomorrow Jon and I are headed to NY to work. We are working on a movie called The Wrestler for a few days. We get back to LA early next week.

The rain has finally stopped here and I have been able to enjoy the outdoors again. I love that you can be outside all year around here and I definitely take full advantage of it. At least 5 days a week I am outside working out either hiking, running or just recently roller blading (I know that is so 1990's of me but I love it, it is a great workout and my dog loves it too). I honestly don't think I could live anywhere cold again.

Hawaii and Work

Well on Tuesday I flew to Hawaii for my family reunion. There are 16 of us here enjoying all Hawaii has to offer (snorkeling, scuba diving, body boarding...). Unfortunately and fortunately on Monday afternoon when we were getting everything ready to leave Jon got a job to coordinate an indi movie so last minute he canceled his trip to Hawaii to stay home to work. Like they say you want to work just plan a vacation. The movie is called Weather Girl.

I also thought I would mention that Jon and I both worked on the new movie Cloverfield that comes our this week. So if you see it stay till the end and you will our name in the credits. I haven't seen it yet because the screening is this week and I am in Hawaii.

This Sunday the new show Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles premiers on Fox. I worked on it quite a bit this fall. It was really fun to work on and I got to do some fun stunts. I was the second unit stunt double for the girl Terminator, Summer Glau (her character's name is Cameron) (her main double is a great stunt girl). I also did some other general stunts. It should be a good show, especially if you like the Terminator series.

Catching Up

We flew home from NJ on Monday however we have been sick since last Friday so I have been stuck at home since then. I hate being sick. I am finally getting around to putting up some pictures from our Christmas trip to NJ and our annual cookie decorating party we had before we left (here is the link to last year's party)

We went to Mama Mia at the Winter Garden Theater on Broadway. It was so beautiful inside but you are not allowed to take pictures inside.

Here is the Jersey clan in front of the best Italian restaurant in all of little Italy. I think it was the best meal I have ever had, seriously.

Since I have been sick I have been on the couch watching Sex and the City non stop (except when Jon wanted to watch football I would watch it on my laptop in my bedroom). Last Christmas my dad, step mom and sister bought me all 6 seasons. I love it! I can't wait for the movie to come out. It is nice to be home. Unfortunately there isn't a lot going on here in LA due to the writers strike.

Merry Christmas from NJ! I hope everyone is enjoying family, food and wine!

I just talked to my dad and he just told me Lost was nominated for the Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards for season 3. My dad was the stunt coordinator for about half of the season and both Jon and I worked on it, so that is very exciting that we have all been nominated!

I still haven't seen National Treasure 2 but I am told that my name is in the end credits so look for it at the end of the movie under stunts. I am credited as Heather Vendrell Arthur. I am not really sure why sometimes they put your name in the credits and other times they don't. I worked more on Transformers and didn't get screen credit but on this movie I did get credit. Very strange but I am super happy.

National Treasure 2

Mama Mia!!!

We arrived in NJ last night to spend Christmas with my in laws. After we landed we went home changed our cloths and was then picked up in a stretch limo and taken to the Winter Garden theater in Manhattan to see Mama Mia. It was such a great show! My sister in law was friends with on of the main guys in the show so we went back stage. It was pretty cool.

Then we went to little Italy to get some dinner. I think it was the best dinner I have ever had, seriously. It was a really fun night. New York City is such a great place to be during Christmas time. I will post some pictures when I get a chance.

Slow Time

We had a great time in Washington visiting my family. I ate way too much but enjoyed every bite. We are back in LA now. Things are pretty slow around here due in part to the writers strike. However, we have been busy nearly every single night since we have been home catching up with friends and networking for work.

Apple Pie

Yesterday Jon and I made the 13.5 hour drive from LA to Washington state to see my family for Thanksgiving. We took our 3.5 month old puppy with us and she did so good on the drive up. I was very surprised. After our long drive, we were so tired, and as we walked in the door of my mom's house the smell of home made apple pie filled the air. My mom baked a pie to welcome us. It was amazing.

This week we will be traveling around see a ton of friends and family. We have a full next 10 days. I am happy to be out of LA where people actually smile at you when you walk by them and let you in when you are driving. It is great.

We missed the original airing of Jon on Law and Order SVU which was this last Monday but luckily the episode will rerun this Saturday at 10pm (yeah residuals!). He is doubling one of the detectives when a bomb goes off he flies across a desk. In case you missed seeing me on Scrubs last night I was carring Turk to the scales. Yes I got paid to carry an actor. You need easy days like that to make up for day when you get hurt or get have a tough day ( I am still sore from my stunt last Friday).

Good Video on the Writers Stike

A lot of people have asked me about the writers strike and how if will effect Jon and I. Well most of the shows we have worked on since August are shutting down sometime before Thanksgiving. Meaning there is no work for us in TV, however there is still movies we can work on.

Here is a really good video that explains why they are striking. SAG (our union) could face a similar strike when are contracts are up in June. We would be fighting for the same thing as the writers so it will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Another Acura

We bought a second car yesterday because it is just so hard to get around LA with one car for the two of us. We bought a black Acura MDX with all the bells and whistles (navigation, leather, third row seating, sun roof...). It is great! Buying another Acura is a bit scary since we had two stolen last year but we hope that because this is the SUV and not the sports car in their line that we should be ok. I feel so adult with my SUV. We have no kids but have a car that seats 7 because we need room to store all of our toys. As quoted in college we can again say "Nice Acura" (Ben and Sean you are probably the only ones who will get this).

Writers Strike

I am not sure if people outside the movie business are following what is going on with the potential writers strike. From my understanding the writers are going on strike starting Monday. If this lasts for awhile it could really affect our jobs. In the short term there are a back log of scripts for movies and some for TV but eventually TV shows will shut down. Everyone in our business is talking about it. This will immediately effect daily shows like Late Night with David Letterman, The Daily Show...which will start showing reruns starting Monday. Here is a good article in the NY Times that goes into detail about the strike. We will have to see what happens but last time they went on strike in the 80's it lasted 5 months. From what I hear they are not even close to coming to an agreement. It will be interesting to see what happens.

A week of firsts

I worked for Sarah Connor Chronicles (SCC)on Monday and Jon did motion capture (they asked me to do it on Monday but I was already working), on Tuesday both Jon and I worked on motion capture. It was my first time doing motion capture. You have to wear this suit with little balls velcroed to the suit. We were doing movement, like walking, sitting, sitting with crossed legs, walking with a purse... for a video game. They then take that movement and use it for the people in the video game. Once the game comes out in a few years all the people you see in the game walking around or whatever will be Jon and I. It is actually really cool.

Today Jon is going on two auditions for commercials. Tomorrow I will be working on two different shows in the same day getting two contracts. I have never done that before. I am working on CSI:NY which is my first time working on that show and SCC. I will be doing a rachet (I have never done one of those before) which I am super excited about. A rachet is hooked up to air pressure which when released with propell me through the air. I will wear a jerk vest that will be connected to a cable which then is connected to a large crane that I will be pulled towards.

On Friday, I am doing my first air ram for camera. Last year Jon and I learned how to use them. If you remember from my post last year, you step on the air ram and using air pressure you are shot into the air not using any cable. Think of it like a gymnastics vault using air pressure as its power. It is pretty sweet. I have a busy week with some big stunts, working on new shows and having so much fun!

Holy Smoke

The fires that have been going on here in California are just crazy. Since we live surrounded by cement we have been safe. However, earlier this week we had a friend stay with us because he was evacuated from his house due to the fires in Orange County. He had the fence at his house burned but his house was fine. My heart breaks for those who have lost their homes. I know how much it stinks to have two cars stolen I can't imagine my house burning down.

The air is so bad here. I feel like I live in a smoker oven. My lungs have been burning the past couple of days. We could barley see the moon last night because the smoke was so thick. We were planning on going to Disneyland today but changed our mind because they are saying it isn't safe to be outside that long.

I swear I am not going to be one of those crazy pet people but I made a 40 sec video of our new puppy. I did this because we have so many friends and family all over the country who wanted to see our new puppy now named, Jersey (Jon named her if you couldn't tell). She has been so much fun but a ton of work. I have been home all week because I have been sick so I have been able to spend a lot of time working with her. Jon is also really enjoying Jersey. If she is asleep for the night when he gets home he will wake her up to play and snuggle. She loves to play but loves to snuggle even more.

The bummer part is she can't go outside yet until she gets the rest of her shots next Friday. In the mean time when we take her out we have to hold her. Enjoy the short video! (Make sure the sound on your comptuer is on because the video is much better with the music)

I got a puppy!

After years of wanting, and shopping and try to talk my husband into getting a dog I finally got one! I got a 9 week old puggle which is a designer dog. She is half pug half beagle. She shouldn't get more than 15lbs which is great for our apartment.

We don't have a name yet. It is so hard to name a dog. I have a few ideas but since I picked her out I will let Jon name her. He is still in NJ and won't meet her until tomorrow. I know he will love her. He has never had a dog before so I think he is still in shock. In the end I know it will be his dog because he will love her so much. (This isn't the best picture but it is all I have right now..)

Work

Last Fall Jon worked on the movie The Heartbreak Kid doubling Ben Stiller, which opened this weekend. He was Ben Stiller's stunt double for some driving scenes in the movie. We went to the screening (they show the movie for the cast and crew before the movie opens, it is different than a premier) for the movie last week. (The pictures are from when he worked on the movie. The girl next to him is the actresses photo double which is different than a stunt double. If it was dangerous driving like a car chase or anything fast then they would have used a stunt double for the girl instead, but they were just cruising along for some helicopter shots so a photo double is sufficient. The driver is almost always a stunt double.)

I worked most the week on the Sarah Connor Chronicles which went great. It is a fun show to work on. I am also working this week on that show. I just love to work!

Jon flies out to New York on Tuesday for a few dasy to work on Law and Order: SVU. Busy busy!

Happeings

I worked last Friday as a high school student on 12 Miles of Bad Road which is a new show for HBO. I can't tell you how happy I was playing a high school student being that I am 26. It was pretty fun. I was a stunt actress ie playing myself and not doubling anyone but I had no lines. The other actors were so nice and we had a really fun day of work.

This weekend Jon worked on a movie playing a solider for a friend of ours who is directing a movie and trying to get his start as a director. I think he had a fun time.

I am working most of this week on the Sarah Connor Chronicles doubling one of the leading ladies. I am the second unit double and have been able to get some good work on that show. This show is a mid season replacement on FOX so hopefully it does well. On Thursday and Friend my dad was hired by the stunt coordinator to be the fight coordinator. I am looking forward to working with my dad again.

My Commercial

Remember last month when I shot my first commercial? I haven't seen it on the TV so I figured I would see if there was anything on the Internet. I found a version of the commercial here. They changed it from the story boards and totally cut out my stunt. You don't see me trip, fall and get trampled by the kids. I must have fell on my face 20 times (it was actually pretty fun and I had knee pads on). Oh well, this happens all the time. You never know what is going to make it through the editing room. I am still in it and it is a cute commercial. It seems like this is a rough cut but I really don't know. Anyway, at least you can see it.

Death on the Set of the New Batman Movie

I just came across this article in my morning reading and it breaks my heart. A special effects technician died during rehearsal for a stunt driving sequence. It sounds like the driver of the camera car crashed while following the bat mobile and one of the guys in the camera car was killed. It is not only stuntmen who put themselves in risky positions to get a great shot it is also camera guys or others on the crew. Often times they are in the car with you, following you or dangling off the side of the cliff with you to get that one great shot. I have so much respect for the camera guys and other members of the crew who put themselves out there. Think about that next time you watch a car chase or big stunt someone has to be there close enough to get the action. My prayers goes out to his family.

The Spa

I must say I love going to the spa! Today I went with a couple of friends to the Burke Williams Spa in Santa Monica. It was wonderful. I feel so spoiled whenever I am at a fancy spa. I like trying out different spas because each one has such a different feeling. The only thing that most spas don't have that they should is coffee. They all have tea, fruit, cucumber water but not coffee. I know they don't have it because it is suppose to be a detox place but still I want some good coffee when I am sitting and relaxing. Anyway, it was a great day and I can't wait to go again, hopefully soon.

Working and Training

It feels like fall is in the air even in California. I love the hot weather but I am so happy it isn't 112 degrees everyday anymore. My dad has been visiting which has been great because I have been capitalizing on him being here. We have been doing martial art lessons in the park and I have loved it.

I am working today on a mid season replacement show based on the Terminator movies call The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It is always exciting to work on a new show. When I went to set to see if I was a good double the director of the episode they were filiming was an old camera guy on Lost who became one of the directors. A few of the other crew working on the show were people I have worked with on other shows. What a very small business.

Missed Call

As usual, I went to the gym yesterday for my daily workout. In the gym I don't get cell phone service so I leave my phone in the car(yeah in the middle of the city I don't get call service gotta love Verizon). When I went back to my car I had three voice mails about work. I immediately called back regarding the job and they had already hired someone else about 5 minutes before I called. I was so bummed! I have never missed out on work for going to the gym. I am not sure what to do going forward so this doesn't happen again. That is show biz!

Going to Hawaii

I fly out to Hawaii tomorrow morning. I get back in town late Wednesday night. It will be a short trip but I always have fun when I am there. I get in tomorrow before noon so I have the whole day to just enjoy the beach and all Hawaii has to offer. It has been so hot in LA that I am looking forward to being in cooler weather (who would ever think that going to Hawaii will be nice to get out of the heat).

To deal with the hot weather we went to the water slides park on Friday. It was so hot it felt like the heater was blowing on us all day. We had such a fun time and what better way to deal with the heat than play in the water.
