Jon's First Stunt

Jon will be doing his first stunt on Friday. He will be doubling a new character this season. He will be running down a hill, tripping and falling. It is a very good first stunt. Jon has been so busy doing night shoots (5pm - 5am) this week so as you may have noticed he hasn't posted to his blog, so I thought I would share what he is up to. I know he will do great.

I fly out to Honolulu today for my hair appointment at 2:30 Hawaii time. I will post pictures tonight or tomorrow morning of my new hair color. Kind of scary...

Doubling Another

I am now going to be doubling another girl on the show. She is new this season. I wasn't sure I could share who it was but I guess the media and such already know. I will be doubling for Michelle Rodriguez. My first stunt should be next week sometime.

Jon and Dad are headed out tomorrow morning to go back to Honolulu to work. They will be gone all next week. I may be flying out to color my hair but I am not sure yet.

Another Day in Paradise

I am sitting at the Sheraton at Waikiki putting in a few hours of work. This is a picture of what I am looking at. I love technology. I can take a picture and share it with everyone so easily.

We spent the whole day on set yesterday. I finally go to meet Eve. She was very nice and everyone told me what a great double I am for her. I am going to have to color my hair very dark brown. Not sure when this will happen but in the next week or so.

Jon is doing great! He is such a natural at this stuff. It makes me happy to see the glow on his face when he is "working". Yesterday was his first time ever being on a movie set.

Snorkeling with Turtles

Today Jon and I went snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach in Kona. This is one of the best places to snorkel in the world. It was amazing. It took me a little bit to get the courage to get in the water and go snorkeling due to my fear of sharks but after a little bit I was having such a great time. I made Jon hold my hand and that helped me not be scared. We saw so many beautiful fish, some were very large. We also saw two giant sea turtles. They were so cool! They were just chillin' out eating some food. They are the wise owls of the ocean.

The water was soooo warm. Almost too warm. I think it is like 80 degrees. It was warmer that Antie Cheri's pool. I didn't want to get out. Tonight we fly to Honolulu because we have to be on the set at 6:30 am. Exciting!

Yesterday afternoon we went to a spot where the Hawaiian royalty would go. I am standing on an old lava flow. It was so beautiful.

Aloha From Hawaii!!

Greetings from the Aloha State. Jon and I arrived safely yesterday afternoon. Stephanie (my step-mom) gave us a tour of our new town. Kona is so cute. We live up on a hill over looking the water. We have our own little apartment that is so great. It is nice to have our own space. The apartment isn't much smaller than the cottage we lived in on Bainbridge. The weather here rocks. My skin feels so nice but my hair does not like to stay straight which I guess is good since the girl I will be doubling has wavy hair like mine. I will have to say good bye to my straightening iron for the time being.

Wednesday night we are flying to Honolulu. Thursday morning we will be going to the set for the first time to meet everyone. I will be going to the hair department to find out if I need to cut and dye my hair dark brown. I won't mind if I have to, it would be kind of fun to see myself with brown hair. Dad says I will be a great double for Eva. I guess I will find out when I meet her on Thursday.

Last post from Washington

Well, today is my last day in the office. On Tuesday I will be working from Kona, Hawaii. I was up very late last night finishing packing and cleaning. Today is our last day in the cottage so I have to have everything out tonight.

Yesterday Jon headed to Las Vegas for his buddies bachelor party and his last horrah with his friends before living 6,000 miles away from them. He wanted to go so bad and I am very happy he was able to go. However, I am left to finish the move by myself, well and the kitties are a big help too.

This weekend I am headed to my mom's house to say goodbye to a lot of my family who will be there working on the addition to her house. On Sunday Riley and Mary are having a little going away party for us at there place, then on Monday we fly off. I am getting very excited and anxious to just get there. I am tired of eatting with plastic silverware, on paper plates, and sleeping on the floor. Stay tuned, next post with be from Hawaii!

Less than a week and counting...

Jon and I are about to embark on an adventure and a business risk. In my opinion, you have to risk to have reward. However, with a risk there is always a chance things will not end up as you anticipate. In this case, the worse thing that can happen is we had a nice vacation in Hawaii. Not too bad.

I think I get board with monitany and I like to try new things ie take risks. In business school, they encourage risk. Why then do businesses and most people "spend their time and energy looking for security and stability? This is nonsense," according to Seth Godin, who always offers great insite. As usual, he is right on target. Hmmm... lets see, moving to Hawaii to be stunt people, I call that thinking out side the box and leaving security and stability behind. Look I am using my business degree. I knew I spent all that money on something.

Moving...Again

We finished unpacking from our move to Bainbridge last Wednesday and started packing it all up again last night, only a week later. This time however, we will be moving almost all of our belongings to our storage unit and only taking the necessities with us to Hawaii (clothes, DVD's, Books, pictures and of course the espresso maker). It is hard to part with some of our stuff not knowing when we will see it again but exciting to be moving.

We have been very busy getting ready for our big move. I will be happy once we get there and all this headache is behind us. And the adventure continues...

Aloha Hawaii!

After much prayer and contemplation, Jonathan and I have decided to take my dad up on his offer of moving to Hawaii to learn how to be stunt people. The reactions from loved ones has been very split and the past couple of days have been very hard for us(especially me).

We don't enter into these major life changes easily, however we feel like this is where we should go. Who knows where this path will lead us, but it is an adventure and we are excited to find out.

I know not everyone agrees with our decsions. I ask that everyone pray for us but remember that at one time I am sure you have all done things that not everyone has agreed with. Sometimes they turn out to be bad decisions and sometimes they turn out to be good decisions . If you don't try you can't find out. We are adults and like it or not we have to make adult decisions even when people we love may not agree. We just can't make everyone happy even though I wish we could.

Thank you to those who have helped us make this tough decision and guided us through the pros and cons. We are excited and can't wait to see what lessons God has before us. Stay tuned to hear more. For now, pray that I can survive the next two weeks and that God prepares our heart for the next chapter in our lives.

Crossroads...

Standing at a crossroad can be very tough. You can only see so far in front of you. It is easy to look back and see how everything worked out just the way it was suppose to, but looking forward can be so much harder.

When you are married you can't make decisions just for you any more, you have to make decisions as a team. However, in my opinion before we make big life changes it is often wise to seek guidance from those in your life you respect after taking it to God. What do you do when you don't know what to do? Pray. I have. Ask those I love. I have. I am getting mixed signals on the latter and can't tell on the former. Hmmm... what to do. I guess go running. That seem to help with the butterflies in the stomach for a short time.

Getting Settled

We are finally getting settled after a long weekend of moving. It is so nice not to have the hour and a half commute each way. I have been coming to work earlier and leaving earlier and I am really excited about the few hours I now have in the evening. Our cottage (too small to be a house) is in the middle of the woods and is very dark even in the middle of the day. That will take some getting use to. I feel like I am in a cabin in the woods. It doesn't feel like home, yet.

Our cats are still adjusting however. They are hiding under the bed and aren't quit sure about their new surroundings. I am sure they will get use to it in time. Still waiting to see why Bainbridge is the number 2 place to live in the country.

Our week in New Jersey

Jon has a great post on his blog about our week in New Jersey. It is a long post but worth the read because he is such a good writer. We really had a fun time but it has been hard getting back into work mode and packing up to move this weekend.

Best Places to Live 2005

The list of the best places to live 2005 came out today. Bainbridge Island, Washington was number 2. Jon and I both work on Bainbride and we are moving there on Saturday to be closer to our offices. It is pretty here but I am not sure what makes it the best place to live. I guess I will see shortly.

The Garden State

I have been really enjoying my time in the Garden State. We have been so busy. I think I finally caught up on my sleep today. We flew in Saturday morning at 6:30 am ET (we took the red eye) and haven't stopped since we got here. I think I have gained 5 pounds because all I have been doing is eating. Tonight I am headed to the spa for a message. This was my Christmas present from Jon. I am super excited.

Happy Birthday Jon!

Today is my dear husband's birthday. He is a the big 25. I hope you have a great day sweetie and remember you will be 30 before me! (Disclaimer: No, that is not our baby since we don't have any children. That is baby Riley. He is so cute! Mom, don't get any ideas.)

Google Maps

Google has a relatively new feature (still in Beta) called Goolge Maps. You can look up most places like where you live then click the satellite button and see a satellite image of the location. Here is the Effiel Tower. Try it out, it is kind of fun in a tech geek sort of way.

Microsoft and RSS

Big news today from Microsoft. At Gnomedex, a big tech conference in Seattle, they announced that their new operating system, Longhorn, will support RSS. This is huge for the future of RSS. Don't know what RSS is, you will in the near future if Microsoft has anything to say about it. Alex Barnett, a Microsoft employee, has a nice post on his blog that explains RSS and he even has a short screen-cast that shows you how to use FeedDemon, a popular news aggragator for PC users. This is exciting stuff.

Boulder, Colorado is in the news...again

Big shocker, my alma-mater college town, Boulder, Colorado leads the nation in marijuana use. I could have told you that. After living there for a few years while going to the University of Colorado, it was very evident the whole town seemed to be stoned. This does explain the cloud that lingered over the town. That is why I stuck to the Business school where they just drank a lot of martinis. Go BUFFS! or should I say PUFFS? (I couldn't resist)

Thanks Steve for the great advice

Steve Jobs, of Apple, gave a great motivational/inspirational commencement speech. His speech is long but I read the whole thing because it really touched me. Steve Jobs never graduated college but most notably started Apple and Pixar. He says:

"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."

This struck me because starting my career it is hard to see where I will end up but I need to remember the dots will connect but I won't see that until I look back. I know I will be a part of great things but only God know what that will be. Steve's advice, "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." Good advice.
