Spying on the locals

Tonight I was at a local town meeting that was held to stop Wal-Mart from building a super center in their town. I felt like such a spy. All the people at the meeting were adamantly against Wal-Mart coming to their town. There was about 35 people, all over the age of 40. Jon and I stuck out like sore thumbs because we are under 25 and dressed nice. They knew we were with the "monster" big box (that is what they referred to Wal-Mart as) but no one asked. I kind of felt like James Bond (the girl version), well actually it was a little scary. Like they say in Mafia movies, know your closest exit and I did.

White Women make less?

Well it looks like the white women are on the bottom of the food chain now. According to a New York Times Article, white women with 4 years degrees make less than Asian and Black woman with similar education. This is trouble for me since I am a white woman with an education. Good thing I am married to a white male (is he considered white even though he is Italian) who are at the top of the food chain, making more than any other group.

Happy Chocolate?

I was just at a store on the most liberal hippy town in the world (second to Boulder, Co), Bainbridge Island, and when I was leaving the clerk said "Happy Chocolate" instead of "Happy Easter." Is there really where the world is headed. We can't say "Happy Easter" anymore for fear of offending someone? How did things get so backwards?

Will Oprah listen to the bloggers?

Blogger celebrity and publisher of Micro Persuasion, Steve Rubel, thinks Oprah should do a show on bloggers. David Letterman did a similar plea to get on the Oprah show and his efforts lead him no where. If the blogosphere can get Oprah to do a show on blogs then we know that traditional media is losing it's dominance . At least in my opinion. We will have to see if this happens.

This puts a new meaning to finger food...

Imagine sitting down to eat some grub at Wendy's when you realize something doesn't taste quite right. So you spit your bit out and find a finger tip. So gross. Well, this happened at a Wendy's in California according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Another Video

Plug your ears when you watch this video from Jimmy & Lisa's wedding. Yes, that is me attempting to sing "Sweet Home Alabama." So embarrassing.

Don't mind the great camera work in the first few seconds either. Enjoy!

Sex Doll raises bomb alert

In Germany, a sex doll began vibrating at the post office and caused a bomb scare. The guy returning the doll claimed "he had wanted to return the doll because it kept turning itself on at the wrong moment."

Thanks to Boing Boing for the story.

Afghanistan's first blog

Watch out CNN the world is about to hear what is really going on in Afghanistan from its first blog, Afghan Warrior, published by Waheed.

I think this is great. Blogs give people a a voice. Now the people of Afghanistan have a voice.

Spring has arrived in Seattle

I have lived many places and I think that of all the springs I have been through in other places, this spring in Seattle is the prettiest. For you New Jersey readers, New Jersey has the best fall.

I love the first time you take your shoes off and feel grass on your feet for the first time that year. I had such a great weekend. It was absolutely beautiful in the North West and I spent most of my weekend outside.

On Saturday we played a game outside with our friends that Jon made up involving a football and a soccer ball. I felt like a little kid again when you make up games and create your own rules. We did gymnastics, laughed and sat in the luscious green grass. It was great.

On Sunday after church we had a picnic in the park and threw the ball around. It doesn't get much better than that. I couldn't help but wish I had a dog to join us in the fun. Oh well, someday I can have my Labordoodle.

There is just something that rejuvenate your soul when you are active outside and the sun heats your skin. It was great.

The Wall Street Journal acknowledged blogs as a business tool

Having a successful start up company means beating everyone else to the table. I think LexBlog, the company I work for, has done it.

LexBlog has been in existence since last May and just today, almost a year later, the Wall Street Journal reported that "the blog as business tool has arrived." Being able to see the way business is going and being first to market has it's advantages if you have a good product and vision.

We provide professional marketing blogs for lawyers. We can only get grow from here.

I love my job!

Thanks Steve Rubel's blog, my favorite blog, for the lead.
