All dressed up

Sorry I haven't written for a few days. I haven't been by a computer because I spent the last few days dangling from the trees. Yes, I now get paid to climb around in the trees. Here is a picture of me in full costume and another picture of all the stunt people I worked with this week. (From Left to right: Mike Trisler (rigger for the day and Saywer's stunt double), Mike Vendrell (my dad and the stunt coordinators), Jon (rigger for the day, Desmond's stunt double and my husband), Me, Rand (Mike's stunt double), Dan Kim (Jin's stunt double), and Will (the new character's stunt double). I have more pictures of this week at work but I can't post them until after the show airs in one month from now because it may give some clues away. No, I am not that tan. They have to paint my skin to match the actress. I am also not that dirty, they spray brown stuff on me to make me look dirty. It is fun to get all dress up. I work again a few days next week. I have some fights, some falls and some water stuff coming up. I just can't belive they pay me to play.

Headed back to work

We fly out tomorrow morning to Ohau. We will be there all week. Tomorrow they are going to color my hair darker...again. Just when I get use to having dark hair they want to make it darker.

I have a rehearsal on Tuesday for my stunt that I will be doing on Wednesday. It is a super easy stunt. I will be helping carry something (sorry can't tell you what) up a hill... super easy. When they actually air the show you will totally be able to see me. It will be fun.

How good was Lost!

I am sure you all watched the season 2 premiere of Lost last night :) Jon and I were not in that one, because we didn't get out to Hawaii in time, however, we were on set for the last scene in the hatch (yes, that means we knew what was in the hatch weeks ago). It is always funny when you are on the other side of the camera and then you watch how they edit the scene together. I can't tell you how many times I heard "Jack" (Matthew Fox) say "Where is Kate, where's Kate!"

If you liked the season premier just wait. I was reading one of the upcoming scripts and I began yelling out loud "No way, No way!" It just gets better. I think it would be hard if you didn't watch last season. Keep watching and I promise you will get sucked in.

Now I can say that Jon will be doubling the new character, Desmond, the guy in the hatch, in upcoming episodes. Jon is a great double for him. Jon is in next weeks episode, sort of. He works during some of the raft scenes (not for Desmond) but you can't see him...directly. We are both doing our first camera stunt in two weeks (episode 3).

You can read more about the season premier here.

Another day at the beach

Part of my "homework" for my up coming stunts is to get some color on my skin. Since I have been here I have tried to sit in the shade to protect my skin, however, I have some water stunts coming up and the "paint" they use to color my skin doesn't stay on in the water.

I have been trying to go to the beach after work a few days a week to tan. I always go to my favorite beach which is about 10 minutes from my house. This is a picture of Jon at the beach. As you can tell from the pictures the beach is empty. It is like our private beach. It is always empty.

Lost Rocked at the Emmy's

As I am sure you all know by now, Lost did great at the Emmy's. We won best drama series and best director in a drama among many others. Jon and I couldn't have picked a better show to start our stunt careers. It doesn't get much better than being in the best show on TV.

I know you all have cleared your schedules this Wednesday night for the season 2 premier (or Tivo'ed it). Jon and I are not in the first episode but you will want to watch so you know what the heck is going on. Jon is kind of in episode 2 and we are both in episode 3, with our stunt debuts. Stay tuned.

Learning to Fight

Part of being a good stunt woman is learning to fight for the camera. I have a fight scene coming up and I just realized I hit like a girl (feminist don't get mad). I have been working on hitting like I know what the heck I am doing.

I went to a martial arts class last night and one this morning to help with my fighting technique. I am learning a ton. Watch out because I will be able to kick everyone's butt pretty soon.

I had not idea how hard it was to do a fight scene for the camera until I started to prepare for my fight. The cliche "the more you learn the more you realize you don't know" really applies to me right now. Stay tuned to Lost to see me in my up coming fight scene. I will be doing it two weeks which means you will be watching it in a few months. I will keep you update on when to watch. Pray I can learn to punch like a stud.

Embracing the Culture

Hawaii has a sort of hippy, laid back (some call it lazy) culture. They refer to this as the aloha spirit. I have been enjoying this "laid back" culture. After I finish work at about 2 pm each day, I enjoy the aloha spirit. I lay in the hammock, read a book, go to the beach, what ever I want. It is just a weird feeling, going from being busy for 14 hours a day to having some time to do what I want to do. Anyone who knows me, knows that since I was able to walk I have been on the go, now I just enjoy. I feel my self now looking for things to fill my time.

I think Jon and I will take salsa dance classes when he is in town. We joined the gym yesterday, however running out side is just breath taking so I will split my time between the gym (so I can do weights) and nature. For the first time yesterday I took a yoga class. I actually have time for fun stuff, it is just great. Lets see how long I can keep this up before I get board. :)

Jon finally posts!

After long awaited anticipation, Jon has finally posted to his blog. He is such a great writer so you don't want to miss his rendition of our adventure called Hawaii. Check it out, but prepare your self it is long.

The last few days

We are finally starting to make some head way on dealing with being robbed. As of yesterday, we now have access to money. Yah! It has taken this long to actually obtain access to our bank account. I can't believe it has taken so long but at least we now have it. I also received a letter saying that we should get our new Social Security cards in two weeks. Once, I have that I can get a drivers license/photo ID. In the mean time I just have to use my pass port in the wrong name and my marriage certificate.

Jon left on Monday to head back to work. He gets home today. He only had to work a few days this week, which is nice.

Yesterday, compliments of dad and Stephanie, I had my first facial. It rocked. I have never had a facial before, so this was such a treat.

We just bought the first season of Lost, which came out on DVD yesterday. I am excited to catch up on the show. I guess you could call it homework.

They forgot me?

Here are the two ladies I am doubling for in the up coming season of Lost. They called me for the photo shoot but I just couldn't make it so I told them to do it without me :) You can read more about season 2 in Entertainment Weekly.

Blogging from New Orleans?

According to Wired News (And Scoble) there is still an ISP working in New Orleans. "It's an advantage they (the ISP company, DirectNIC) are quick to put to use. DirectNIC's "crisis manager," Michael "Interdictor" Barnett, updates his Live Journal continually with on-the-street reports."

According to Wired News "It may be the only blog currently both written and hosted inside New Orleans, and it's receiving nearly 3,000 visitors an hour." Check it out.

Out of control

I just can't believe what is going on in New Orleans. It is crazy. I watch the news in awe and pray for those who are there. It really is showing the worst side of mankind.

I can't stop thinking about how the New Yorkers came together when 9/11 occurred. I can't understand why some of these people are shooting at helicopters that are trying to take sick children to hospitals and raping the woman. Pure evil.
